Difference between màth and deag?

What is the difference between math and deag when referring to " good " ?

Deagh only goes before a noun, and lenites it if possible.

There is something slightly different about them, but I can't think how to explain it. Some words are conventionally more likely to take "deagh" than "math" though (e.g. "Deagh bheachd!"). You'd also have to use "math" in a predicative sense, e.g.

  • Tha am balach math
  • Tha am balach droch (ungrammatical)
