Why is this not a tortoise in THE house?

I too would like this clarified. Can anyone point to the lesson?

Don't exactly know which lesson, but 'in the house' would be 'anns an taigh'.

I had understood it could mean either turtle or tortoise? See glosbe and others

Nope, 'turtle' is turtar, sligeanach is 'tortoise'.
