I'm trying to figure out way in which I can improve my Spanish besides the traditional methods. As I was doing a lesson on Duolingo I had to figure out how to type another word so I opened up a tab to Google Translator.

Because I can get sidetracked a lot due to my undiagnosed A.D.D I started daydreaming. Once I start daydreaming my imagination goes wild. Because I consider myself an artist (I draw portraits and abstract things) I like to think I have a pretty good imagination.

Anyway, as I started daydreaming I began to convert my thoughts into Spanish and this is the story I created Goza!:

I believe implementing a method like this to help your Spanish or any other language for that matter is because I use this method when I'm studying my Japanese Kanji. With each Kanji I create a story in my head to help me remember what's the key word of the kanji and how to draw it. So far I've been able to remember over 1000 kanji with no difficulty.

So why not use that very same method to help with my/your Spanish? I had to look up words a few times that I didn't know or forgot but know I'm sure not to forget them because of this funny story I created. Or at least I think its funny.

Good idea! Another idea, which I got from textbooks is to create a story with a set of vocabulary words. For example, if you are studying family/relatives from a list, create a story using every word on the list. You can use this for any sort of list of related words, like shopping/stores, travel/trasportation, school stuff/subjects, etc. You have to get creative to use all the words in one story.

Y a propósito, lo hago yo también, todo el día. Narro mi vida, cuando estoy caminando, hablo de cosas existenciales, de mis mismas problemas.. Así discubrí que hay que hablar con uno mismo, es uno de los métodos mejores de practicar, y también es un bien método de pensar (hablando) :-)

Lo que digo, es que, practica en todas maneras que puedes! Jamás pierde una oportunidad. Ten un diario, escribe cartas a tu mismo, canta, lee, hazlo todo! Vive tu lengua!

Great story! I think that creating stories like that will really help you solidify what you know, and show you where you can improve.

Thank you. I probably should go back and proofread my story to see if I missed any direct/indirect object pronouns, gender/number agreement, etc LoL

This is a great idea. I might try it myself, starting with a very short story, maybe even just a sentence or two, and then if it works I might be able to write them longer and longer.

Here is a revised version :-)

Yes, you do have a lot to learn but, for a conversational level, that's Great.

Dude, I speak survival phrases in 16 languages, I'm YOUNG, trust me, I may be 6 feet but I'm not even 13 yet. I have conversations with Arabs ALL the time. I'm not scared, it's like I'm scared NOT to talk, it's my nature to talk to people, I go up to people on the street and say "How are you sir on this fine day" for NO reason. Good Luck.

I wish I would have started studying language around your age but at the time I had a different mind frame. Anyway, I wont say I'm scared to converse with people moreover, the fact that I don't know what they're reactions are going to be.
