Errors: Numbers within "english" text, showing sounds for characters

I am in the 5th lesson, "Descript. 1"and suddenly Duo is substituting numbers in place of letters. Am I supposed to guess what letter the number is standing for or are numbers suddenly a part of the Arabic language? I hope this can be fixed and won't keep happening in the program or I will have to abandon Duo Lingo's Arabic. I wish there were an easy way to provide details of flags in the comments versus checking a box or better yet, check in with a live person. :) Thank you!

This isn't an error. The Duolingo Arabic course uses numbers 2 and 3 for sounds that we can't make using English letters. You need to click on the notes in that lesson which gives a full explanation of this. The 2 and 3 are similar to the letter "A" in English but not exactly.

Thank you. I have looked everywhere for this information but I can't find it. I'll keep looking.
