the Romans did eat dormice. They had special jars for fattening them up. One was found in Pompeii. Apparently they were classed as a delicacy!
Fascinating though a tad gross! I was wondering why such odd example sentences involving mice in kitchens were being used in this lesson but this explains it!
And yet they weren't featured in the lesson on 'food'...
That's because everyone does that in kitchen
Stop counting, Livia. You did that 9 times today already. That should be enough food for this winter. Counting doesn't increase the number of mice anyway.
Livia: Mater! I'm gonna numerate the mures in the culina.
Livia: Quod... reasons
what a dirty Roman kitchen that would be...
the words that I had left when I first did this were who, we, drunk and parrots.
That must be.... horrible!
