I think this should be a thing.

There is a good chance it already is but I would like to have an option or a special search so that when ever you look up someone's profile name you get every post they have made it would be a lot easier to find not only your posts but other peoples posts too. Thank you for reading, have a good day. Nateawesome.

Completely agree. Won't happen of course, but nunca se sabe

You could also simply do what I do, and mark everything you post with a searchable tag. The sentence at the end of all my comments is written in one of my conlangs, designed so that it doesn't overlap with any existing language, which I can look up on the current DL search to find most of my posts. (With enough options loaded, I can use Ctrl + f to further tailor the search.)

You can also use Google to look someone up directly by their username, with the following setup: "ARCANA-MVSA" site:duolingo.com OR site:forum.duolingo.com

NOTE: Neither workaround accounts for sunk posts.

That workes but I want something that make it easier to fine the posts I didn't tag.

That's where the second option comes in. :)

Wow, it is definitely helpful, thank you so much for sharing!

You can also find your posts by using the option to download your personal data :P

Yeah that would be pretty nice to have. Duolingo used to actually have something very similar to that about 3-4 years ago but then they changed the course's and that was the end of that. :)

Yes, I think that would be much easier too, so if you forgot to follow a post you could go to the person profile and then you could find it again. Great idea Nateawesome!

If the duolingo search was even remotely good, then this would be an advanced search option

But it seems the duolibgo search function is something left over from the early 2000s

I agree, it is a great idea

Its a normal feature on other forums. I think why post history and other features (such as post count, member statistics, etc) are absent is to give more emphasis to language learning instead.

If staff ever implements something like this again, I hope they heavily improve the friends system first:

  • it should be bi-directional (only add someone as a friend of both parties agreed)

  • not requiring to block someone AFTER they have added you (anonymous accounts with empty pictures, pet or other strange avatars)

  • looking up someone's forum posts (recent posts or complete list) accessible from the profile page should only be LIMITED to friends:
    Not foreigners / the public.
This is a guarantee in supporting to annoy people and post crap on old threads/comments.
I heard that exactly this had happend with the Activity streams for a few users.

  • blocking someone should also possibly extend this to the forum: Hide new user posts, comments, disallow in reading your comments

I have nothing against that some selected people with filled out personal profile data and real portrait pictures follow me or any new posts I make.

But if you completely open this feature, then it will be abused.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Nateawesome

Yeah I agree on all of those except the one where you have to be friends to find them, that kind defeats the perpose.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/SmashCookie

If you ask me... I think the users' benefit outweights the potential abuse. But you got a point, Duo's hard to moderate.

I completely agree.

It Needs to be a thing.

That would be so much easier. But also what about things like contest planes? If Duolingo did add that they would also have to add a "Hide" button on posts so that if they do search up your profile name then they wouldn't see that post. They would have to go to the forums and search the name of it up.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Nateawesome

If you really need a "hide" button you probably shouldn't be doing what you're doing.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/JackDunne5

Probably. But the hide button would be useful for contest plan posts.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/StarlitTardis

I think that could be very useful. My only worry would be that it could make it easier to target a certain user with harassment by just searching for their username and then harassing them on all their posts. Hopefully it wouldn't happen, but...this is the internet.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Nateawesome

that's what mods are for.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/PresleyJen

This would be awesome.

The site would surely collapse! Imagine, thousands of repeat posts about the owl, leagues, lingots and dvs.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Nateawesome

That is true but I just want to find my old posts that I forgot to follow. Also have you ever made a post because I have never seen one by you?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/OlnaKaia

I also wish I could find my old posts that I forgot to follow

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/MiaQuigleGirl101

Yes, and if someone had the chance for people to see a post about them needing help, I don't think people would repost as much as they do.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Linda7Italian

Nate. I've had my moments. Now I leave it for other newer learners to have their moments.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Nateawesome

hmm ok I want to read your posts then.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Linda7Italian

Nate. I'm flattered you should take so much interest :-(. To keep you updated, I regularly posted and put myself "out there" to invite people to our great Italian club, as many will remember. Then because of time differences I would often sit up till 2am to give them the code and welcome them to the club. I'm sure such posts still exist if you want to delve deeper from which you will see that I worked hard for my Admin friend, who now has a FB club. Sadly the club was terminated with all the others, so I now contribute in other ways (we have a private Italian forum for anyone interested) and I let others post. I joined on 6 August 2016 and have been here every livelong day, just to complete the picture, tho' I see no need to post about my unexciting achievements. I do remember you, incidentally;-) Cheers and be well.

Wouldn't it be the same amount of posts but in a more organized way since you can search by person?
