my version is coming up in english

I put 'a' hedgehog is in 'the' garden. - how do i make the difference?

ann AN - in a

annS an - in the

The s in anns an makes it "in the".

The "an" doesn't mean "the" here. It's an old word for "in" which is no longer in use. There was a time where an meant both "in" and "the" so it mutated to "ann an" so that people could tell the difference.

thank you! I was having difficulty making this distinction, too.
