Hey everyone, I am really close to finishing my Spanish tree-set and had been trying to work on some alternative ways of immersion, so I bought a series of short-stories by Jorge Luis Borges (El Aleph). What I thought was really cool though, was that you can find vocal readings of many of these short stories on YouTube! This has been a great way to practice pronunciation, speech rate, and general vocabulary. It's really nice in that you can pause the reading whenever you need to look up a word and you can repeat it as many times as you please.

For anyone that is reading "El Aleph" (it's a very interesting story!) here's the link:

Thank you. I will check it out once I get further into the lessons. I'm sure the readings/videos will be very helpful.

Thanks for the link! This is indeed a good idea. Also those lucky to have spanish TV stations available can watch any show they like, even a spanish version of a show they previously saw in their mother tongue. Kowing the context helps. I've learned english watching Star Trek!! I also have a friend who gave me a full set of Spanish lessons called "Asimil" on several CD's that I listen to as I drive around. It is amazing how you get used to hearing it and learn at the same time. And since I started DL I've greatly improved my vocabulary thus my understanding. 'Asimil' though is more the European spanish. Hasta la vista!
