Ach tha i fuar cuideachd!

What gramical purpose does the "a" im "Afraga a deas" serve for. I feel like it is a linking word. Does it have an equivelent in english? Is the "a" in "a-nis" the same word? I also see it often before "caraid"

How come we can hear a "n" at he end of teth" so we hear [tinn]. Is it normal pronunciation?
