"A bheil e uair dheug?"

Translation:Is it twelve o'clock?

Why dheug as opposed to deug?

Strange way of splitting the number of hours with the word for ... "hour" ??! O_o

It’s the Gaelic way to state numbers over ten, you might think about it as literally dà uair deug two hours over-ten, trì cait deug three cats over-ten, etc.

The same with twenties, thirties, etc.: aon chat air fhichead one cat over twenty, twenty-one cats (but also fichead cait ’s a h-aon twenty cats and one).

See Numerals on Gaelic Grammar Wiki, there are examples of counted objects there :).
