Machine translation vandalism
At the time I write this, this article is entirely translated by a machine. The perpetrator got credit for the translation, and those who clean it up get just one point for checking it.
The translation is so bad that the copy and paste job includes text from the Duolingo pop-ups:
and from January 14 reestrena (he / she / it / you) rerelease rerelease! (he / she / it) shows again in an improved version in the Teatro Astral.
Correcting all of this useless material is meagerly rewarded, compared to how profitable it is to create a junk translation like this. That's demotivating, and will encourage more nonsense like it.
To cap off the insult, the resulting translation is predicted to be "Good" by Duolingo. Yikes.
Hey- thanks for sharing this with us. The algorithm that gives a quality score is a work in progress. We are figuring out new ways to measure this. The immersion section will see ongoing updates. Your comment about points and how they are allocated is interesting and one that I will definitely bring back to the team. The article is not complete and there is room for people to edit and make that article's translation more accurate. Thank you for reporting the abuse. We are also working on creative ways to detect the misuse of Duolingo features such as in the translations. We want to make sure Duolingo is a safe and enjoyable place for our entire community.
