Literally but also as a uphemism for dating?


I agree with Morag_Kerr but note that in any other sense, a more accurate translation would be I can see someone. With verbs of perception like this, being able to do something, and actually doing it are the same. After all, if you are lookout, you would not say I can see someone until you had actually seen them. It just happens that we say can in English when we say tha in Gaelic.


I suspect so, as all Gaelic speakers also speak English and will know that one.
