Ergative case explanation

So there's a case in Hindi which hasn't been explored much on Duolingo and it's called the ergative case. Affecting pronouns, it creates words like मैंने, तुमने, इसने and तूने. Can anyone explain when ergative case should be used and provide examples. I understand it's almost impossible to explain, but a little help would be hugely appreciated.
