Since both animal species and animal terminology vary across the world, I don't know if everyone will understand the significance. What we call a hare is larger than what we call a rabbit, much more athletic-looking with longer ears and very long back legs, specifically adapted to running fast. The American jackrabbit (e.g. Bugs Bunny - highly disputed but he certainly has many hare-like qualities) is a type of hare. This causes confusion in English-speaking Europe as Bugs Bunny is referred to as both a 'rabbit' and a 'hare' in the cartoons, although these are different animals for us and Bugs Bunny is not at all rabbit-like (to us).
