Assignments Not Showing Up for Students
I have had reports from several of my students that their assignments are not appearing for them. I have used Duolingo for several years and haven't recently had this problem. When I check my assignments they appear as "Pending..."
I reported this bug, too, MadameSponable. I will add your comment to their bug file. Hang tight.
One thing I will say is that it only affected one of my classrooms. Do you have multiple classrooms or just one?
Perhaps in the interim, re-assign whatever you were doing? That wouldn't fix the first assignment, but maybe the second assignment will work? Just a shot in the dark for a moment.
Yes - very frustrating!! I set up a test student account last week and it worked just fine - today I met with my students via Zoom video chat and tried to get all of my students set up in Duolingo but not one of them could see their assignments! I have literally been trying to get it to work all day but still can't. Duolingo - please fix this!
Well, students will not "see" their assignments. They will get an e-mail notification that there is an assignment, and what it is. You, the teacher, will be able to see the assignment and who has done it. The bug we have seen is that one time, for only one of my classes, the assignment showed as "pending."
Have your students do the assignment as normal. You can send out your own e-mail, or post it to your Blog or class website, or however you want. You will be able to see their data.
Keep asking questions! We are all in this together!
While I experiment with adding a picture (I apologize; you are all probably getting numerous e-mails that a "new" comment has been posted to a discussion you are following... I am so sorry!) At any rate, I highly recommend that you add yourself to at least one of your classrooms, so that you can see the e-mails that the students get.
Also, remember that if your students joined your classroom after you created the assignment, you will need to go to their icon and specifically click "add assignment."
This might help someone... yesterday I had the darndest time figuring out why none of my students could see their assignments in Duolingo. Before I had my students join, I had already set up the assignments for their classes. I decided to delete all assignments and then go back and re-assign them after the students joined the class, and VOILA! The students can now see their assignments! Moral of the story: Do NOT set up assignments before the students join your class or they won't be able to see the assignments.
You didn't have a button next to the students (in the assignment view) that says, "This student has recently joined your class. Add assignment"?
But this is a very good thing to find out! I wonder if you had to delete the assignments, or if you could have gotten away with just assigning things again?
