assignment confusion

I am new to Duo. I just checked my students' progress. For example, I will use 3 students in the same section to explain my point. Student 1 completed 4 lessons, Student 2 completed 8 lessons, and Student 3 completed 5 lessons all in the Greeting topic. All 3 of these students completed the assignment as I looked at a green check mark. What causes the variation in # of lessons and completing the assignment? When I assign a lesson to my students how can I tell them the right number of lessons to complete to get a green check mark.? This is so confusing to me. I have looked everywhere in the help sections and the forums for the answer to this question. I get bogged down in all the posts and responses. Thank you for your help.

Hi,

When you add a new assignment and choose 'Level up a skill', it shows you the number of lessons required to complete it:

This will also show up in your Assignments tab:

Most take 4 or 5 lessons to complete, some 2, 3, 6 or even 7.

In your example, did Student 2 and Student 3 actually need to complete 8 and 5 lessons respectively to get the check mark? Or could it be that they simply completed more lessons than required? When you check a student's progress, you'll see the total number of lessons the student did in that skill, not just the number required to complete the assignment.

I feel quite like an idiot now. the stress of distance learning is getting to me. Thank you very much for clearing this up for me. I see it very clearly now. Thanks again!
