"rèis sgoinneil"

Translation:a brilliant race

April 6, 2020

The pronunciation of the word spelled as "rèis" sounds like "phrìs", which makes no sense here. The leading consonant does not sound like either a broad or slender r-sound to me. It would help if the regional origin of the speakers who are recorded to make the audio files were documented.

I notice that "brilliant/sgoinneil) is used frequently not just in Duolingo but in utube videos about the history of Scotland produced by Scots. I think I should use it more often myself.

Sounds like freis to me. Thats what i wrote and luckily got marked correct!
