I wrote "Le boucher emballait la viande …" Marked wrong. Is there a difference in pronunciation between —ait and —é ?
In standard French, yes, "ait" is rather open /ɛ/, "é" is closed /e/. But besides that, there is the "a" in "a emballé" that you woudn't hear in "emballait".
Help, Why is it 'dans du papier' and not 'dans le papier' ??
Dans du papier = in (some) paper
Dans le papier = in the paper.
Of course ! Thank you Sitesurf.
