"Wasn't the window open?"

Translation:Nach robh an uinneag fosgailte?

April 8, 2020

Why isn't it "an t-uinneag" instead of just "an?"

uinneag is a feminine noun, and feminine nouns beginning with a vowel take an as the definite article, while masculine nouns beginning with a vowel take an t-. The ending -ag on a noun is a good indication that it will be feminine.
