There's no "a" here? It's not "Halo, a athair"?


The vocative particle disappears before vowels in speech and is commonly not written in such cases in Scottish Gaelic. You might find some (especially older) texts with a athair etc., but today you’ll rather see just athair in vocative and that’s what the Duolingo course expects.
