In English you'd be more likely to say 'There are eleven of us', or 'We have eleven people'.

Ungrammatical and very weird way of expressing that "there are eleven of us." Alas, that's Duolingo for you.

There are eleven of us is the most natural translation. DL's translation is literal - another product of DL's robotic software.

I couldn't resist putting this.

Could this be one person admitting to a multiple personality disorder?

I suppose anything is possible, but that one person could say "I have eleven personalities."

Ahhh..."Somos" must be the only word in Portuguese that doesn't spell phonetically....It sounds to me like "So-am-os" and now I've confused myself and I can never remember the right spelling!

That depends a lot on the accent :) in rio people say it like that, but in northeastern cities they say it like it's written
