Scottish Gaelic Skill Tree

Hi I've reached the skill tree at the end of level 4. Is this the end of the road, or is there more Gaelic to learn? If there is, how do I access it? Thank you Backoch 60

The skills tree ends at checkpoint 4. If you haven’t already, go back and get every skill to crown level 5. If you’ve already done that, congratulations! The contributors are working on an expanded skill tree, but it is unknown when it will be available.

Yes I have gone as far as I can, there's no more lessons beyond 'Sayings'. I am worried that I will lose my skills since I've got an unbroken streak of days. How will we know when the expanded skill tree will be available?

After you reach level five in a skill, it will occasionally crack, indicating that it needs to be practiced. Up to three skills will crack on any given day, up to a maximum of three. Check back every day to practice your cracked skills. When the course is updated, you should receive a notification.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'crack'. I have completed all the practice for every lesson and level, but I will keep my eyes peeled for this. I look forward to receiving a notification of more Gaelic lessons, although I appreciate there is a lot of hard work goes into it. May I take this opportunity to thank the entire Duolingo team for a wonderful resource, which is conducive to learning and not at all stodgy like so many language courses are.

Once a skill is at crown level five, a large crack will occasionally form on the top left side of the skill icon. This is called cracking, and is a sign that you should practice that skill. You can find a picture of what that looks like here: https://forum.duolingo.com/comment/33624020/New-feature-Practice-skill-to-restore-it

Actually only 3 skills will crack at a time.. should you not repair them they stay cracked, however no more will follow. You can choose to repair them or ignore them and instead practise your skills either from duome.eu/Backoch.60/progress when they are no longer 100% for example or by clicking the dumbbell by the tree itself. The cracks happen at random, which I'm sure you've noticed while doing the course as it indeed happens once a skill is golden.

If you've studied per app you might not have seen these: https://duome.eu/tips/en/gd

Of course instead of redoing the tree you can also start learning Gaelic on other platforms and focus more on speaking/hearing.. and only do enough here to keep your streak at DL until the Gaelic tree gets updated.

Aha yes I have seen this crack, and the word 'restore', but I had no idea what it mean. Thanks for explaining this to me.

And you can actually practice more than three per day. You can practice as many as you like for ten points on the first go, five points on a second go, and zero points hereafter for each day.

Another thing you can do is to open a second account and work through it again. I did that and it's been very helpful. My second account is now sitting at the 4th crown level for all skills so I can practise at the hardest level if I want to. (The practice lessons are generally easier than the top crown level.) I can keep it there forever by not clicking "continue" at the end of a lesson so it doesn't register, although of course that means I don't get any XP for that.

That Morag is a very good idea. I think I will do that very thing, and work through the entire skill tree under another name. Thank you.
