Usted no se fue de mi casa.

May someone translate this please,

Duolingo's translation is "you didn't leave my house"

I'm really starting to doubt my learning. Does fue mean leave i thought it was the past of "to be", therefore "was" is the definition.

i just thought the sentence didn't make any sense

that is the past tense of irse which is to leave, not to be confused with the past tense of ser which can also be fue. check it out on under conjugations for more clarification.

Fue : preterite tense for both " ir "..... to go , and "ser "..... to be. For "irse " you would have to use " se fue " and the meaning is go away .
