Help! I can't add students to my classroom

I have sent the email invite to my students (also my children), but in the email they received the button that says "join classroom" doesn't link to anything.

I have also tried copying the link provided from their browser but instead it takes me to the duolingo homepage and asks to login.

I don't seem to have a username and password for them so I've tried using the email that I used to set them up as students and send the original invite to, along with the "forgotten password" option and it says they don't exist.

Should I give up on the schools option and set them up as individual users??? How the h... am I supposed to get them on to the platform if it just keeps sending me in a circular route with no option to register them in their classrooms???

Hi Lily,

If opening the classroom link prompts you to sign in, that means you aren't currently signed in to an account. Joining a classroom via a classroom link or classroom code only works if you already have an account and are signed in to that account.

If your students/children have an account, have them sign in and then follow the classroom link. If they don't yet have an account, they first need to register. You can register an account at https://www.duolingo.com/register. Alternatively, you can create accounts for them in your teachers portal by clicking 'Invite Students' and then choosing 'Create accounts for my students'. This process is explained in more detail at https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000036806-How-do-I-add-students-to-my-Duolingo-classroom- under option #2.
