Why is there no word for 'there' I translated this as 'terrible music is on the radio'

Your translation is accurate. There isn't a "there is" construction in the Gaelic, but English is most likely to render the sentence that way.

Is tha............air = there is?

Thanks - it's a construction then, I'll watch out for that in future.

I put this as 'tha ceòl uabhasach ann air an rèidio'. Why is this marked wrong with 'ann' for there? Without, wouldn't it just translate as: Terrible music is on the radio?
