Can you make multiple profiles on the "parent account" for different people?

Hi everyone,

I work as a tutor and am trying to incorporate DuoLingo into my "curriculum" with some children who are ESOL. Their primary language is Arabic. I speak both languages, but I learned Arabic in school, so of course my Arabic is Fus-ha, while theirs is native.

I want to give each of them individual DuoLingo profiles, since they are at very different levels: ages 4, 7, and 9. I think they would really benefit from working on English (obviously), as well as Latin. I'm a language nut, and I've already started trying to have a conversation with them about how American English is a melting pot of immigrant languages in order to explain why the same combination of letters can make different sounds in different words. I took Latin for five years growing up, and its similarity as a root language really helped me conceptually when I learned Arabic. I'm hoping that teaching them some basic Latin will do the same for them -only in reverse.

Does anyone know if DuoLingo has an option for a single account holder (me) to create multiple profiles, like the way you can switch between different profiles on the same parent account with Netflix or Hulu? Setting up a new account requires an email address, and DuoLingo won't allow me to create a new account, even if it has a different user name, if it's linked to the same email address. Since these kids are pretty young, creating new emails for them is not the answer. And I don't really want to create a bunch of new email addresses for myself just so that I can have a separate email to link to each of the new accounts.

I have a feeling that that will be the only way to do this :(

Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi Bobbie,

It's not possible to create multiple profiles for the same account. However, you can use the same email address for multiple accounts using a technique called 'subaddressing'. This is explained here under 'workaround': https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002602086-What-if-a-student-doesn-t-have-an-email-address-
