Russian!

Just wanted to say that I am very excited for the future Russian course in Duolingo! I am extremely glad that Duolingo decided to incorporate Russian. It has always caught my attention with its different alphabet and notable accent in English language films and television series. I really hope Russian will arrive here soon!

And if you're a football fan like me, Russian will come pretty handy at the next World Cup in 2018 ;)

I'm looking forward to Russian too. I once taught myself the alphabet, but I never got any further with it. I will definitely have another go at it when it comes to Duolingo. :)

Haha same here. I put on my profile that I'm learning Russian but that's as far as I got. I should probably take it off ;) lol

You do have quite a lot of languages on your profile! Still, you are young, so you have time, and ambition is a good thing. ;)

I tried russian once with that princeton course, does anyone know it? It was very good, but hard to keep motivated. Anyway, russian culture is amazing. Classical music, cinema and literature just to start. I can't wait to watch my favourite movies again without subtitles!

ps. here is the princeton course, didn't test this source though apparently works: http://www.lingcom.ru/article.php?l=en=95

I'm sure they'll love having you check it out once they're in beta, because you'll be in a good position to report potential errors :)

how long should we wait?!

Expect it to be at least a few months. If you're anxious to get started, you could always look up other resources online to start building up your familiarity with the new alphabet and some base vocabulary so that you can move faster once the tree is ready :)

It says estimated launch: 4/5/15

But back in May it said the estimated launch was mid January, so I'm not sure if the momentum is there. Unfortunate, because I want to learn Russian as well.
