'My sister is a really adorable person' sounds a more natural English version of the sentence.

I am not sure about the placement of /vraiment/ here. Can we also say:

Ma sœur est une personne vraiment adorable (translated as my sister is a really lovely person)

Absolutely. As in english, you can apply vraiment to either être or adorable.

In English 'my sister is a really adorable person' has a different connotation to 'my sister is really an adorable person'. Is this reflected in French?

Please can you explain the different connotations. Don't both simply emphasise the veracity of the statement?

to say my sister is a really adorable person, is a compliment - emphasising how very nice she is. To say my sister is really an adorable person is almost defensive of her; ie if someone has said she is not nice, you could respond this way. I hope that makes sense!

Agree with previous comment and think my sister is a really adorable person should be accepted.
