Changing from a school district account to a private account

I currently have a Duolingo account through the school I work for. If I leave that job how can I transfer all of my work to a private account? Can I upgrade to Duolingo plus as a private account while keeping my progress?

You cannot transfer work from one account to another.

You can, however, edit your account to have a new username and a new email address.

If I change my User name and Email address, would Duolingo start billing me? That would be fine My biggest concern is losing all of my work.

Are you bringing your students with you when you transfer jobs? Or are you worried about losing your progress in the tree?

If you are not bringing your students with you, then it doesn't really matter. You can set up a new classroom when you get to your new school.

If you are bringing your students with you, then you can set up a new classroom, and give your existing students your new classroom code. They can actually belong to both classrooms if they would like, or they can delete the first classroom.

If you want to save your progress in the tree -- Sorry. The best you can do is test out of the skills when you set up your new account. You'll have the initial test which -- even if you do it perfectly -- probably only gets you out of 1/3 of the tree. Then you can click on the castles to test out of the first level of each section. (Pro tip: Click on the very last castle to get all the skills before.) But this only gets you out of the first level.

I hope this helps!
