I've been attempting to follow the audio and figure out when and when not to employ liaisons, but I'm still confused. Is there a general rule for when to use them. For instance, how is "est-elle" pronounced?

my grammar book says, that liaisons are much less frequent nowadays than when I learned French (45 years ago). But: est-elle >> ettell with accent on ell.

Thank you, siebolt! If anyone else has input, please let me know. What I would really like to know is if there is a hard and steady rule for when to use them.
