Oh, this is interesting. On the 'type what you hear' version of this, i wrote what i heard - "Les petits poissons verts" (the little green fish), though i did think that it was odd that there was no verb. It was marked as correct, and rightly so, i suppose.

Tried "The little polka dots are green" just for fun. Not accepted

Duo should also allow "The petit pois are green." "Petit pois" is the name in English for a variety of peas that are bred to be small at maturity, and sweet and delicious.

les petits poissons verts est aussi phonétiquement correct

tout à fait.... but we "stop" after "pois" => "les petits pois / sont verts" and we don't stop with "poissons = "les-petits-poissons-verts !

Dear gawd Duo, What's with this horrible voice. Please get rid of it.

Oops, should be "Petit pois are green."

I would be content with "little peas". In France not all pois sont petits.

Peas and petit pois are both available in the UK and are not the same thing. Petit pois are a smaller and some say, slightly superior pea.

Translating 'petits pois' simply as 'peas' is like translating 'blue cheese' as 'cheese'. It is only a part of the story. (I thought of that while consuming mushy peas with my fish and chips.)
