What's the difference between this and "Ego coquere velim"

Duolingo seems to translate velim as ‘I would like’. I think it is the subjunctive form while volo is a simple indicative present, I want.

Angry or not the narrator is not enunciating clearly enough for me - and the 'slowed' version appears to be identical. The audio is disappointing on this course.
