I can't access Assignments

Hi everyone,

I can't access Assignments from my own computer (I have a six-year-old sister who doesn't have her own)

Best,

Tej

Did you receive an email with the assignment? Duolingo for Schools has been experiencing delays due to increased traffic, so if you didn't, you may simply have to wait a little.

If you did, please read through this help article: Why can't I see my assignments?

Please also move this discussion to the Educators forum, where you can get help from teachers and admins.

Edit: I notice you wrote 'This is what I can see:', but I don't see anything there. If you want to embed a screenshot, please read these instructions: https://forum.duolingo.com/comment/33394339

No, I didn't get an e-mail. Regarding the 'This is what I can see', I accidentally copied it from another post (I clicked Alt-Tab by accident).

Then, assuming you do have email notifications enabled in your sister's account (https://www.duolingo.com/settings/notifications), it's probably just the delay.

My sister doesn't have an e-mail address so I set up an account for her (the alternative option).

But were you not prompted to enter a "parent's" email address when signing up? The email notifications should go to that address.

We are not allowed to share our email addresses on the forums. You can use Imgur without an account, though.

How did you sign up without any email address? Even if you sign up with Google or Facebook you should receive emails on the addresses associated with your Google or Facebook account.

OK, thank you anyway. There was a blue banner at the top advertising Duolingo for Schools so I clicked it and it directed me to either enter an e-mail address or create accounts for my students. I chose to create an account for my sister. Going back to the initial issue, my sister can't access the assignment I set her on my computer.

The students don't actually need to actually "see" the assignments to do them. Just keep telling your students what the assignment is, using your normal mode of communication.

Make sure they are connected to your class, though. And also click on the Assignment in question to make sure that the student doesn't have an "assign now" button (if they joined the class late).

To disable words like death, go into your classroom settings. This will be a button on the left side, under "Assignments" and under "Class Activities." The very last button. Depending on the language, it won't disable beer or wine, since sometimes those are culturally important words. But it will disable any sentences about death.

Hope this helps!

OK MadameSensei!

BTW: Love your username!

I teach three languages, so depending on the class, I am either Sra., Madame, or 先生. ;)

So are you teaching your sister, then? What language?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/DoYourDailyDuo

Oh OK. I am teaching my six-year-old sister Spanish. I feel it is important for her to learn a foreign language early on in her life because it helps her to feel part of the global community as opposed to being "trapped" in a monolingual bubble.

I would email your teacher. Happy Learning!

I am the teacher as I would like to disable the forums and words such as beer and wine for her.

This should be in the troubleshooting forum.

Can you elaborate on the issue? Are you the teacher and you can’t assign assignments or are you a student who can’t access the assignments?

Here is a link to help you out. https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004453086-How-do-I-enable-social-features-for-my-students-

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/DoYourDailyDuo

I would NOT like to enable social features. What I would like is to be able to access and complete assignments from my own computer.

Submit your bug right here. You will be answered by the Duolingo Team soon.

OK! How will I get answered? Through e-mail?

On the issue post you made.

Hi Hanniel.T! I have submitted a bug report but I got an answer from Atervanda who replied with EXACTLY the same thing she posted on this forum. This is really bad; all I want to do is help my sister learn Spanish... :(

There is absolutely no way you could have received a response from me to a bug report as I do not work for Duolingo. Also, I'm not a she.
