Save a spot for me. ;) My plaque will be grand, containing my trees all of which WILL BE GOLDEN SOON! Every language to learn on English Duo will be golden, so I'll need a large spot.

Sounds like a great idea, AlexisLinguist. Please add me for the Spanish (from English) and English (from Spanish) trees.

Do you think the icons shown on the http://incubator.duolingo.com/ page might serve better in the long run? These covers both 'from' and 'to' languages. For example when I complete Spanish from French tree, it would be nice to see that on the board as well.

I'm loving the enthusiasm you are generating here for people Alexis. :D

I hope Duolingo take note how inspiring it is for others to finish their trees, so that everyone can see their achievement. I understand you used to be able to see people's trees, but I assume that would only have worked when you were looking at someone's individual profile.

It seems from this thread that having some kind of public recognition really enthuses people, so I think that, while a Hall of Fame is a great idea, having a symbol which can be seen either by clicking on a profile, or even better something attached to all of our flags, would be perfect. Please Duolingo? :D

I've completed my German tree, so I'd like a spot in the first tier hall of fame!

But it does seem like people like Knoxienne (and there are others) ought to be recognized in a special "Multi-tree (or Forest?)" hall of fame. That might motivate me to finish off my withering spanish tree!

If it is formatted as Alexis has done above, then we can easily see who has one tree and who has more. Just look at the row that Knoxienne has already - and Alexis hasn't got the French trophy picture yet!

I think it's great what Alexis is doing here, but it would be even better if we got official recognition from Duolingo. :)

Actually, one amendment to what I typed above. Much as I am thrilled to see my name at the very top (I think I was first to reply, having finished a tree), I really think it should be reordered by 'number of trees completed', so those who have more trees finished are at the top, and those of us with a lowly one complete are at the bottom. :D

Within that, it could be ordered either by date you joined the hall of fame (i.e. in order), or maybe alphabetically, so it is easier to find people.

(Sorry if that makes more work Alexis, feel free to ignore me if you want to)!

Hello hello everybody, I came here to warn about future when I will take my thrown as the grand sexy jedimaster of duolingo. I have 2 trees completed now, portuguese and spanish. I will complete my english tree within few weeks and italian and german this year. That will be 5 trees, but my dutch will be completed definitely in the following 12 months. I hope they will have finnish and estonian besides swedish which I will be able to complete all with shortcuts in 2-3 weeks at least. My goal is to be the first to reach 10, my only weakness to reach this goal is french. I will have to learn new languages to do this. I will challenge the greatest linguists here to reach the magical 10 golden owls. Contact me if you have accepted the challenge. Let the game begin.

I've thought about suggesting this for some time, pretty much since I finished my French tree. What I was imaging as a graphic was a laurel wreath (which would fit around the circular flag graphic). Another thing I considered was the possibility of the wreath changing from green (or silver) to gold whenever all the nodes of the tree are gold.

Depending on whether or not you count finishing the French learning English tree, I've either got two or three.: English learning French (still golden), French learning English (still golden), English learning Spanish (with as many colours on it as a Christmas tree!). Yep, I let my Spanish slip because I started learning Italian. Strange though that the French learning English doesn't show on the list. Why is that?

Actually if you read the other replies, you'll notice that they simply haven't found an image of the Portuguese owl yet. There are surely a bunch of people that finished the Portuguese tree, even some who finished all five English->xxx trees (I suppose it's a bit early to count Dutch, although I suppose some native speakers might have already finished it).
