"Are the children well-behaved?"

Translation:A bheil a' chlann modhail?

Probably a stupid question but why is the plural a' chlann and not na clann?

Grammatically a' chlann is not a plural, it is a singular with plural meaning: the word clann always refers to multiple children. As such it doesn't have/"need" a plural form. You could think of it like offspring in English.
