Can someone explain the pronunciation of Thormoid here, and why it appears sometimes with and sometimes without an i?

When addressing Norman directly an 'a' is placed in front of the name, changing the pronunciation & spelling:

a Thormoid: https://www.duolingo.com/dictionary/Scottish%20Gaelic/a%20thormoid/4aa4876167ad7af454c4c04eb2f2731b

When talking about Norman:

Tormod: https://www.duolingo.com/dictionary/Scottish%20Gaelic/tormod/7790e1f6c4f572d193b90f878e1369ac
