Duolingo is the most popular way to learn languages in the world. Best of all, it's 100% free!

My, what a great journey it has been.

A few months ago while hiking through Mother Nature, I stumbled across a rather peculiar Owl in the woods. He was wearing a yellow track jacket running through woods singing a song in what sounded like five languages simultaneously. So naturally, I stopped the owl and said the same thing I say to everyone the first time I meet them, "Hi I'm Tony B what's your name?" He removed his headphones and said "Hola Bromigo! My names Ollie and I'm an owl!" (In a gnarly surfer accent) and the we did the sweetest hand to feather shake ever.

We then proceeded to chat and he explained that he really was singing the song in five languages. He said he learned all the languages playing games on an island called DuoLingo Land. I simply replied with "Word that sounds rad! Next stop Duolingo Land!" We high-fived, and hopped on his private jet to DuoLand. To this day I'm not sure why, but Ollie insisted that we wear red robes with those funny one eye glasses and smoke a pipe while we were on his jet, whatever.

For the next few weeks Ollie and I just hung out on the beach, surfin', and mingling with the locals. Little did I know but I was slowly learning new words and phases I've never heard or seen in my life, and I liked it. I liked it a lot.

Ollie and I started hanging out every day and practically became best friends. So much to the point that some of my human friends began getting jealous saying all I do is party in DuoLand with that stupid owl and I never want to spend time with them anymore. Which was pretty much true at this point, all I did was surf and party with Ollie. It was hard not to, we were having too much fun and I was learning new things.

Everything was great, until that one night....When Ollie and I stayed up really late one night drinking, and he started getting really mean. Telling me I wasn't learning anything he taught me and I couldn’t even spell simple words right, so we got in a gnarly bar fight, there were broken bottles, smashed chairs, and blood everywhere, it was bad. I thought that was the end of our friendship because we didn't talk for almost two weeks. He kept emailing me asking me to come back and party but I didn't respond.

After those two lonely weeks went by, I realized I was in the wrong, and I needed to make things right again. So I returned to DuoLingo Land where Ollie was waiting for me with open wings. We hugged, did our famous hand to feather shake and it was back on like Donkey Kong. Since then, we've been hanging out every day. This past weekend he took me to the top of his favorite tree. The view up there was magnificent, it's up there I realized this entire journey has been worth it and I wouldn't have changed a thing.

Basically what I'm getting at here my friends, is that I finally finished the Spanish tree and I have never felt more accomplished! So if you get the chance to shred some waves with Ollie in DuoLingo Land, I strongly recommend you stick it out, because although he's a tough bird and kind of an a$$ at times, he really means well. There's a lot you can learn from the wacky bird, I know I did.

Now its off to Costa Rica to test my new skills! Wish me luck!

I think that owl is a stalker; emailing you everyday to come back to him. How long are you going to be in Costa Rica and why? If you don't mind my asking. I want to go there too.

Also, this post is the best I've read in a while.

Surfing of course, I should have guessed that. Sounds awesome. I'm sure you'll be able to get around quite well with your Spanish. Have a good trip. Buen viaje. (If that is correct).
