Oh, I see! The 'shi' is already attached to the Navajo word for maternal aunt! Thats why if you add 'shi' as a seperate word (shi means my) it is wrong.

I am still confused, does this mean nalí asdzaan is correct if it is just maternal grandmother but if it is my maternal grandmother it becomes shimasaní?
