i agree with the other poster. without specific context, it isn't clear whether you're discussing a person or a thing. ((you have the same thing in japanese. aoi desu (literally, "blue it is"). what is blue? a person? the sky? a car? in japanese, the conversation will start out identifying the subject, but thereafter the conversation may not again specify. therefore, anyone overhearing the conversation could misunderstand...))
