Kein, Keine, Keinen, Nicht.

I understand the endings now. Which one to use. But now i don't really understand when to use Kein(e)(en) or nicht and when nicht goes to the end, or before. I'm writing every sentence down trying to distinguish a pattern. But i can't seem to figure out this jiggsaw puzzle. Any hellp would be great, thanks!

To put it really simple:

  • When negating a noun: kein
  • When negating an action with a noun: kein
  • When negating anything else: nicht

  • Ich fahre nicht nach Berlin (action)
  • Er hat kein Auto (noun)
  • Er trinkt keine Milch (action with a noun = Milch trinken)
  • Sie fährt kein Auto (action with a noun = Auto fahren)

Some more:

  • Es ist nicht schön (adjective)
  • Morgen machen wir das nicht (time)
  • Das ist keine gute Idee (noun, albeit with an adjective)

EDIT: Sorry, I hit the "Save" button accidentally and had to edit a lot :D
