does anybody know any good TV shows in german?

they say that if you really want to master a language you must hear it too, but i can't seem to find any good TV shows on german with or without subtitles. if you can add a download link as well that would be great! :)

Perhaps not what you're looking for, but there is an online soap opera in German (and in Spanish, French and English) specifically designed for language learners. It's about a love triangle between two girls sharing a flat and their neighbour and about the unexpected arrival of a foreign pen pal. He's an American in Germany/France/Spain and an Argentinian in England. Yes, I know, the story is a bit stupid, but it's really great for listening comprehension! There are no subtitles, but you can download the script for each scene. Also, you could watch parts of it in English first. The dialogues are identical in all languages. I've tried it for Spanish and I must say I was surprised about how much I could understand!

Here's the link - it's all legal, BTW :): http://www.planet-schule.de/wissenspool/extra/inhalt/extra-deutsch/01-sams-ankunft.html#

@Katherle: In case you haven't found it already: for listening comprehension in Spanish 'destinos' is great: http://www.learner.org/series/destinos/watch/

Sorry, I never know links. But: The public channels ZDF, WDR, ARD, NDR, Südwestfunk sometimes have subtitles. I don't watch tv on the internet, so I don't know how to select subtitles there, but on tv it is teletext 150. Tatort always has subtitles, many romantic German films, especially when they are situated in a foreign country have them too.I checked: right on this moment there is a detective film called "der Dicke" on ARD and on WDR there is a series about nature "Abenteuer Erde" both with subtitles.

I really enjoyed Knaller Frauen, a comedy show. It has limited dialog, which allowed me to enjoy it even though I'm a beginner. After the season ended I tended to watch Dreisten Drei and Sechser Pack.

There are also some movies in German with English subtitles on Youtube, e.g. "Run Lola Run".

If you want to watch movies from the public TV stations (ARD,ZDF) online, these are your links: http://www.ardmediathek.de/fernsehen http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/#/hauptnavigation/sendung-a-bis-z I don't know whether they provide them with subtitles. Just try it (Tatort is a good candidate)

I love schau dich schlau which has stuff online (either RTL or RTL2, don't remember, but you can find stuff to stream on either). It's an informative show that picks a theme each episode and is kind of silly but interesting. Sadly, I'm in North America currently so streaming stuff is super slow. I've tried. Many times. Grr. Recommended movies: Das Leben Der Anderen, Goodbye Lenin, Der Eisbaer
