Can you use the "où'est-ce que" form in this instance? If so, how?
You need to keep the de with où, so the english for this version is "From where is it that he comes?" = "D'où est-ce qu'il vient?" Or the briefer version is "D'où vient-il?"
"Où vient-il " was marked wrong. Can anyone explain why? Thanks!
See what I wrote above. The de is required in the French before où. They think of it as "From where does he come?" = "D'où vient-il?"
