My understanding is that the verb "weten" refers more to things you know about, like "I know it rained today" or "I know the sky is blue." More like facts. And "kennen" is more like being familiar with something. So you would say you "know" a person in English, and that would be kennen. And you would say you "know" the sky is blue, and that is weten. Does that make sense? It's not the easiest thing to explain.

It is not incorrect at all, but in Dutch nobody says that.
