I'm not a native English or French speaker, and to me "what I am wearing is ..." is just the same as (or rather, a bit less redundant than) "the one I am wearing is ...". is there a difference?

Hopefully this explains the difference:
I wore a tight shirt yesterday but the one I'm wearing today is looser. (2 different shirts)
I wore a tight shirt yesterday but what I am wearing today is looser. (a shirt yesterday and something else today).
