What are the differences (If there are any) between conseguir and poder?

I think of conseguir as "manage to (do or get)" and poder as "have the ability to (do)". As such they often both work for the same idea.

Yes, they have. My tip is whenever canno mean someone don't let you do something use poder, if that is not the point (tha point is your hability) use conseguir. Sometimes both work.

Then a correct translation should be I do not succeed in . . . .

It seems to me to be the same difference as in English "can" (conseguir) and "may" (poder) with a similar caveat in that "can" and "poder" are both often misused.

Duo's translation contains an error. "I can not look at you while I talk to you" should read "I cannot look at you while I talk to you."

Jonathan that is not correct. "Can not" and "cannot" are equally valid (like do not and don't).

It should be while I am talking to you
