The robotic sound can be a bit misleading... The Finnish "s" is quite sharp, like in BrE "sea" or "see".

The computer voice indeed adds some kind of weird extra sound in front of the s so that it sounds "xsinä". Lutay_ has explained it well. It's like s in "same".

No, there's not much silents anyway, usually everything is pronounced just as it's written.
