What is the future of this course going to look like?
Hi, I want to know if this course is going to be enriched and modified to make bette, like German or Spanish. I really like this course since it is very hard to find Finnish in popular language learning apps/services. I hope it only gets better from here. Is it a A1/A2 course as of now? They should focus on the quality of the content too. I see that it repeats names like "Joni", "Otso" as questions, which is very weird. I understand they are only starting out, but better look out for it in the future. I hope that they also bring the "story mode" to Finnish.
Typically, the first version of a course covers about half of the A1 level, which is a minimum of 30 skills. We want to get learners new courses as soon as we can, but we also want there to be a meaningful amount of material for them to work through.
The Finnish course has 35 skills currently.
It wouldn't surprise me if they released the first part of the Finnish tree while working on the second part, as they did with Scottish Gaelic, which has about the same set of skills/crowns. From what I've read in the forums that is the way it works nowadays with new courses.
It's sort of a mixed bag. We do not cover everything in A1, but we take a few small bites at A2. We tried to focus on grammatical features that are easier for English speakers first and those did not always coincide with the thematic content of what A1 or A2 should include.
English speakers often find Finnish vowels confusing, so using names in the beginning is an easy way to teach them how Finnish ortography works. I have to admit though that the very first lesson is far too repetitive. We'll rethink it for the next tree. :)
