In Australia it is illegal to call something that is not made by coagulating milk with rennet or similar agents, cheese.

True story. I remember many years ago when the U.S. passed a law saying that swiss style cheese could only be called Swiss cheese if it originated from Switzerland. If it came from anywhere else, it had to be called, "Swiss style cheese", (from the country of its origin.) Made me wonder if there's an international cheese cartel :-)
