"Kantele on kaunis soitin."

Translation:The kantele is a beautiful instrument.

June 25, 2020

Is it wrong to translate as "Kantele is a beautiful instrument"?

It's been doing that with "the", it adds it when it didn't say there was a word for "the". I know Finnish is a really new course but maybe they just do that in Finland? UPDATE: I just typed it into the English-Finnish dictionary section of Duo and there actually ISN'T a Finnish word for "the"! According to Duo, anyway.

Finnish does not use articles, neither "the" nor "a/an".
