Follow the white rabbit?

Seuraa valkoista kania/jänistä/(pupua).

And in English, only small children talk about bunnies...

So as far as the Finnish is concerned, does "pupu" only mean "bunny" or is it also used for the English word "rabbit" too?

You'd call a rabbit "pupu" only to go "awww cute bunny". "Kani" is what you usually call a pet rabbit. "Jänis" and "rusakko" are words for different kinds of hares but it will depend on the person whether they really know which is which. "Jänis" is a pretty safe general name for wild animals of the rabbity sort.

Thanks for that. Very helpful.

I don't know what you're talking about. Everyone calls young rabbits "bunnies".

Not in the UK. Here, young children call all rabbits "bunnies"

Nobody uses words like "pupu" or "söpö" etc.

I use "söpö" on a daily basis! :( Always when I see something cute, I immediately go "awww söpöä / suloista"
